The Holidays are almost upon us, and this is the time of year that I start to get depressed.  I think back on the year, and wonder where it all went.  Why did it fly by so fast?  Did I cherish every moment?  Did I make the most of my time?  I notice that my kids are getting older and more mature and more aware.  My husband and I are speaking in foreign tongues more often now, so our kids can’t understand.

And then there are the crazy people that you have to deal with when you go shopping.  I’m sorry if I sound like the Grinch, but people can be a little pushy this time of year.  The malls are packed, there are no parking spots, long waiting times at restaurants, sold-out items, and constant Christmas commercials!  Then the pressures of getting just the right gift for the people in your life and trying to keep to your budget.  When the Holidays are over, I feel like I’ve  just run a one-month long marathon!

My goal this year is to finish shopping and wrapping by this weekend, and then to just the kids to different Holiday events around town and really enjoy the beauty of the season.  I will not get stressed out!!!  I won’t!!!

What are some of the ways that you cope with the stresses of the Holiday Season?

While you contemplate the true meaning of the season and how you will enjoy this time of year, here are some photos we shot the other day.  Corduroy pants are comfortable and a nice change from jeans.  They can be dressed up or down and worn with boots, heels, or flats.  They are a must-have basic staple and you can go nuts with the different  colors!  I got these great skinny corduroy pants last year from Gap and this black studded top is from H&M.  A simple and very affordable look for the season!

I will be out today trying to complete all of my Thanksgiving shopping.  I am so fortunate to have my family coming here this Thanksgiving.  It will be great family time and of course great eating time too.

Here are some recent photos we shot.  In Arizona, we don’t have Daylight Savings Time, so it gets dark very early nowadays.  We lost light so fast as we were trying to shoot, and I felt really funny keeping my sunglasses in the dark!

As the Holiday season fast approaches, its more important than ever to budget and spend money wisely.  Of course for moms, the most important people we like to spend money on is our children.  However, we should be mindful of ourselves also, and remember that we don’t have to spend a ton of money to put together a nice look.  The sweater and pants in these pictures were purchased from H&M, and were very affordable.  My 4 year old son was very excited about the glittery collar on the sweater and exclaimed “Mommy!  You can wear that for Christmas!”
